Liberals: Should one’s words or actions determine their character?

I ask this question to liberals because there appears to be a disconnect with liberal thinking that allows for people to be labeled as racist simply for saying something that isn’t friendly to a specific race/ethnicity, however have never taken any action in their lives that would represent true racism. For... show more I ask this question to liberals because there appears to be a disconnect with liberal thinking that allows for people to be labeled as racist simply for saying something that isn’t friendly to a specific race/ethnicity, however have never taken any action in their lives that would represent true racism. For example, in the movie Gran Torino, Clint Eastwood’s character is a very disgruntled widower/Korean War veteran that obviously harbors some animosity towards Asian people in which he expresses verbally. However, at the end of the movie, he sacrifices himself to protect his Asian neighbors from street thugs. Can he really be deemed a racist? Don’t actions speak louder than words?
