They are betting you won't get sick. They want a safe bet, so they insure healthy people.

NO Why should the government take the bad bet.

Health Insurance companies want to make money. The best way to do that is to pick healthy, rich people with only a few sick people.

Countries that expand health care coverage to all spend less than us and get the same or better results. See the link below. Governments delivers same health care at a lower cost than the private sector.

There is not sufficient profit margin to cover high-risk pools, so Americans have done that for themselves (ourselves), collectively. As a bonus, American citizens do not have to flush a good portion of their health care expenditures down the toilet to service profit margins...

We already DO cover those who cannot afford the private insurance market through Medicare and Medicaid.

The money that is paid out in claims is money that is paid into the pool by the other insured minus a small fee.

It is not the company that is paying the bills, it is the other members of the insurance pool.

Insurance companies are in business to make money and maximize profits. They do that by collecting from people who are healthy and refusing to cover people who they would be paying out for.

Because they profit off those who are healthy and lose money on those who are not. They try not to cover those who are not "safe bets."

Simple: health insurance co.companies make their money by not providing healthcare. Great for them, not so great for the poor when they get sick.
