Poll: Do you know what an "essential tremor" is?

I was diagnosed with essential tremor awhile ago. It makes my hands really shaky; and it's kind of embarrassing, but I've had it all my life so I'm used to it and I take medication for it which helps.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it before, especially since it's one of the most common neurological disorders.

Update:

Yes, I take metoprolol for it. It helps, but I still shake a little and it makes me feel a little dizzy and lightheaded sometimes.

No, but now I do. That sucks, sorry :(

My metoprolol makes me tired so I take it at night. Ask the doctor and try it, it might help with the dizzy and being lightheaded.

There are "tremors" that run in my family but I don't think it comes on until we are old.
