i have committed benefit fraud?

I have commited and been caught with benefit fraud of three thousand.

What is the likely outcome

Update:

I have paid half back already..

looking for advice to what happens in court, will i have to explain anything or will they just ask if im guilty not guilty

    No enough information to really know, but...

    You'll have to pay back the $3000. You'll also have to pay some sort of fine. Demands for up to 10x are not uncommon.

    If this is through an employer, you'll likely be fired or, at least, put on some sort of probation.

    Jail time is possible, but not likely if this is a first offense.

    Likely outcome could be several things. You will definitely have to pay it all back and will be ineligible for any benefits forever. Possible other outcomes could be a large fine or prison time.

    If this is in America and you mean welfare fraud you will be ineligible to ever receive help again, and face a very large fine and possible prison time.

    you'll have to repay the $ and will be disqualified from receiving any future benefits for 6 months.
