Because we fantasize about vampires coming in the dead of night and taking our blood. And some are actually quite good (I'm just talking about the Anne Rice-an vampires here. None of those Twilight/YA books.)

    My top five:

    - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling

    - Anna Karenina, by Leo Tolstoy

    - As If After Sex, by Joseph Torchia

    - Ada, or Ardor, by Vladimir Nabokov

    - Laura, by Vladimir Nabokov (sometimes called 'The Original of Laura')

    #1. Revolutionary Road

    #2. Water for Elephants

    #3. Little Children

If I think of others I'll edit, but those are the ones that stand out to me...

BQ: Because it's trend. You know what I mean? It's all about jumping on the bandwagon. Kind of like facebook or twitter... Bad examples but I'm sure you get it. There's really nothing special about them besides the fact that friends use it, so to be cool and stay in the loop you at least pretend to enjoy them! And if you're talking Twilight, they like it because of the forbidden-ness of it all. It's almost thrilling, if not for the bad writing... But because they can't/shouldn't be together, it makes you more curious. Like a car crash, you don't want to but can't help but look!

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

    Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Dafoe

Lord of the Rings (whole series) by J R R Tolkien

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

Harry Potter (whole series) by JK Rowling

BQ: They love the cheesy drama. Fear and love are also a powerful mixture.

    Entangled by Cat Clarke,

Gone With the Wind by Margret Mitchel (I agree!)

    Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater,

    The time travelers wife

Life as we knew it (series)- Susan Beth pfeffer

Sorry, I've read so many books i can't think of another

Vampires are considered a fantasy escape, sexy, glowing, who wouldn't be obsessed with them? (Me) Plus twilight is considered a smart damsel in distress story
