Every eateries has their own set of rules and regulations, being no smoking, no using of handphones, no children allowed in the premises, no outside food consume there, we reserve the right not to serve customers......, customers must be properly attired, etc..., and so on.
Why do eateries have such rules? Well there must have been cases where customers blatantly, and sometime behaved in a manner that cause annoyance to others.
To charge for the glass of hot water, well the establishment has the prerogative to do so, as I can see that there will be people walking up to the eatery and asked for water, but not going to patronise the place. Business is business, so long as the customer agree to pay the $3.90 glass of hot water, then there shouldn't be any issue. The customer can chose to order something else.
Only when the customer was not told of the charge, but billed the water, then there is an issue.
Joanne Peh's incident could be more than the water issue.
