How much supplies can a camel carry on its back without rendering it unable to move?

Researching about camel trains in the middle east. To be more specific than the question, how many pounds (or any weight measurement you choose) can a camel carry on its back with ease?

Let me take a moment to clarify - the answer I am giving you is for a camel, not a dromedary, which are smaller, swifter, and used for riding.

Strong camels usually carry from 500 to 600 lb (230 to 270 kg) and cover about 30 mi (48 km) a day. Some Bactrian camels can transport 1,000 lb (450 kg), according to answers.encyclopedia.

I hope this helps you out.
