The Black Dahlia Murder - because the Vocalist Trevor Strnad is a fantastic lyricist, as well as being able to do deep powerful growls with awesome high pitched screams. Instrumentally the band is unique and always writes great music and has an awesome drummer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDEvqdw2fmA

Obscura - because they write really incredibly technical music without sacrificing melody in their music, they incorporate a lot of jazz influence into their music as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPmRC5Qch2M

Necrophagist - for their purely powerful technical prowess. They write uncompromisingly technical music played at breakneck speeds with surgical precision. They also use bass solos which in metal is pretty uncommon (obscura does it too, though 2 of the 4 members of obscura are from necrophagist) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oBGixxuu2E

The Faceless - They blend jazz and death metal almost seamlessly without letting one outshine the other. The riffs are memorable, the lyrical content is unique, and have shown a lot of growth between the two albums they have released. (this song is relatively slow for them but its heavy and well done) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEyjzBaA2Hw

My fifth i really have trouble deciding because there are so many other bands i love like decapitated, abigail williams, fleshgod apocalypse, gorgoroth, cryptopsy, death, carcass, and prostitute disfigurement, as well as many other non metal artists so i really cant name a fifth.
