How is the ability to taste PTC inherited?

It is pretty close to a dominant genetic trait. That is, if you inherit the PTC tasting gene from either of your parents, PTC will taste bitter to you. If you inherit it from neither, it will be tasteless. There are three nucleotides involved and a defect in any of the three will render that gene non-tasting. So at least one of your chromosomes must have all three nucleotides 'correct' for you to taste PTC.
