The best is to take the train.
There's no train station at st Tropez so you have to go by train from Nice airport = Nice Saint Augustin and get off at Saint-Raphaël Valescure. From St Raphaël to St Tropez it's 38km, you can do it by boat (the fastest and cheap), by coach -which is very slow as it'll stop all the time, I think it takes about 3 hours to arrive at St tropez or you take a cab, much faster but in July there are traffic jams and it can be "not so fast and not really cheap !". From St Raphael train station to the port there's a bus which is free and it's just 1 or 2 stops.
12th July St Tropez - Cannes = boat + train http://www.voyages-sncf.com/billet-train/horaires/...
boat = it seems there's a boat leaving from Saint Raphael at 2:30 PM http://www.bateauxsaintraphael.com/files/brochure/...
cannes - monaco = train http://www.voyages-sncf.com/billet-train/horaires/...
monaco - cap martin roquebrune = train http://www.voyages-sncf.com/billet-train/horaires/...
roquebrune - nice saint augustin = train http://www.voyages-sncf.com/billet-train/horaires/...
How many companies have you seen to compare car rental fares? if you take the car at nice airport and leave it at the same place, maybe it's not so expensive and the sightseeing on the cost is really beautiful, a pitty to miss it.
At Europcar, you can rent a Renault Twingo, 500 dollars for 11 days. http://www.europcar.fr/DotcarClient/step2.actionSource(s): I live in France and visit the South about 4 times per year

Just go to the Roquebrune Cap Martin tourist office where they have leaflets of walks in the area.
