Will H.R.1540 Section 1034, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 make Obama the US King?
You MUST oppose H.R.1540, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, and in particular Section 1034. It makes Obama a King of the United States.
The war in Libya is absolutely unconstitutional and you and the rest of "congress" are letting Obama get away with it.
"Allow the President to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so, whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such purpose — and you allow him to make war at pleasure. Study to see if you can fix any limit to his power in this respect, after you have given him so much as you propose. If, today, he should choose to say he thinks it necessary to invade Canada, to prevent the British from invading us, how could you stop him? You may say to him, 'I see no probability of the British invading us' but he will say to you 'be silent; I see it, if you don’t.' The provision of the Constitution giving the war-making power to Congress, was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons: Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This, our Convention understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions; and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.'

These so called "Answers" are only opinions, nothing more. Even anything I would have to say, pro or con regarding this matter, would simply be my opinion. Those concerned about the ramifications of H.R. 1540 section 1034 should read the text and decide for yourself, rather than take the advice of armchair lawyers.
If you go to http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-h1540/text you can read the text of this bill. Oddly, section 1034 is titled "Affirmation of armed conflict with al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and associated forces" indicates the following:
Congress affirms that -
(1) the United States is engaged in an armed conflict with al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and associated forces and that those entities continue to pose a threat to the United States and its citizens, both domestically and abroad;
(2) the President has the authority to use all necessary and appropriate force during the current armed conflict with al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and associated forces pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40; 50 U.S.C. 1541 note);
(3) the current armed conflict includes nations, organization, and persons who -
(A) are part of, or are substantially supporting, al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners; or
(B) have engaged in hostilities or have directly supported hostilities in aid of a nation, organization, or person descibed in subparagraph (A); and
(4) the President's authority pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40; 50 U.S.C. 1541 note) includes the authority to detain belligerents, including persons descibed in paragraph (3), until the termination of hostilities.
In a nutshell, that section of the bill appears to give the President unfeatered authority to detain everyone, everywhere in the world. So much for the Constitution, requiring the Congress to be in the loop. It seems to indicate that once the bill is approved, the section of the Constitution that requires the President to first get authorization from Congress to go to war, is basically "pre-approved".

War hasn't been declared by Congress since 1942. No declaration of war for Korean War, Vietnam War, War in Afghanistan, War in Iraq, Operation: Desert Storm, Kosovo, Grenada, Somalia, etc. etc. etc..
The no-fly zone in Libya is a continuation of American war practices. No declarations necessary.
Quoting Lincoln, talking of invading Canada and getting invaded back by Britain, not very useful. Lincoln was not President of the global superpower. Lincoln did not have his words broadcast to the world through TV and internet. America still had to declare war because that was the only way of letting the enemy know you were coming. George H.W. Bush didn't declare war on Saddam in the early 1990s, he went on television and told the world.
Lincoln was a brilliant man who abolished slavery. He dies before we had light bulbs. He dies before we had the nuke. He dies before we got updates texted to our cell phones every five minutes.
Relax, my friend. Everyone is trying their hardest to do what's right. The problem is that people get so focused in their mission that they start to think that anyone doing anything different is wrong. "If I'm right doing this, then they must be wrong doing that. If I'm good doing this, they must be evil doing that." It works both ways, conservatives and liberals, but we're both trying.
You don't need to worry about King Obama, no one wants that. Not even Obama. We all love what the United States represents and we all want to keep that (no matter who the proposed King is.)

Probably the number of the bill is the only thing this usual, made up, anonymous chain email got right. Typical right wing pseudonews.
You guys were whining the attack on Libya is unconstitutional because he hasn't asked Congress for permission - then when he does you say he's making himself "King of America?"Source(s): It boggles the mind.

So uh, jointly as that grew to grow to be authentic right into a constructive little precis of censorship for the size of Nazi Germany, you likely did not quite cope with your guy or woman question, it is nearly wierd. jointly as there ought to be assistance to show that the regulation of thoughts channels would be a purpose for the two significant events, i don't think of of it particularly is particularly and completely oriented interior the path of the left. additionally, Cicero: You do comprehend that the political spectrum is a continuum, not a sliding scale ultimate suited? bypass a thoughts adequate left and you will grow to be a thoughts certainly? bypass a thoughts adequate certainly and you will bypass a thoughts left? Tyranny lies at the two ends of the spectrum.
