Can blood be extracted from a lancet?

Or does the lancet only make the incision and not actually draw any blood? The reason i'm asking is I want to take a blood sample for viewing under a microscope and want to find a sterile way of doing so.

Would this product suffice?

Prick your finger with the lancet after sterilizing the area with an alcohol rub. Apply the drop of blood onto a slide and spread it thinly with the edge of another slide and let it dry in open air. Now, you can examine it under the microscope.
