    a. applications must be sent to 地址

文法上applications是死物,是要被動式的寫法must be sent(past participle)這寫法。

    b. applications must be applied 跟住是附上一些申請程序上的的條件或要求,例如...applied by 一個date (deadline)。

    c. applications must be filled 跟住會指出填表時的要求,例如...filled in black ink. 意思是所有填的字都要大寫寫,Name: CHAN TAI MAN, Birth Place: HONG KONG, Address: FLAT X, YYY ROAD, HONG KONG等。

    d. applications must be made on form (GF340)意思是指申請的要求指定要填formGF340,由於個preposition已用了on來表示要用那一張form,所以只有made才是合理的verb。另外亦可以...made to,意思是向某一個人或部門申請,全句可能是applications must be made to the relevant/specific address of each respective postition.

In respect of each post applied for, you have to complete an application form

    4. before可以替代no later than。no later後面一定有than的。因為no later這個phase的意思是「不會再遲」即是「立即會做」,而不是no later than一個日期的deadline限期的意思。no later than 30 May跟before 30 May大意上是相同的,唯一的重點是no later than意思是在30 May(收到)仍算數接受申請,但before則在30 May收到已過期不接受申請了。

    2. 用made因為此動詞所修飾的是applications(申請),而applications(申請)的慣用動詞正是made(完成)。如使用sent(寄出),其修飾的名詞應為applicatin form(申請表);如使用applied(申請),其修飾的名詞應為job / post(工作/職位);如使用filled(填/任),其修飾的名詞應為vacancy(空缺)。

    4. 不能。因 before the closing date 的意思是「早於在截止期」,而 not later than the closing date 則是「不遲於截止期」。

    To「利歐」:

    3. In respect of each post applied for, you have to complete an application form.

    4. 無論before或not later than,同樣不具emphatic的作用。若要具emphatic作用,應於advertisement後斷句,或加and字於not later than之前。

    2. Applications must be made in the appropriate form.

    3. In respect of each post applied for, you have to complete an application form (咁樣應該清楚D)
