Honestly? I couldn't get past the first 2, where you put Pat Benatar (PAT BENATAR?!) above Hank Williams. Any list that starts out with Hank at 50 (there was definitely no where near 49 artists better than Hank Williams much less her) is off to a very very bad start.

Elvis, Hank Sr., and The Beach Boys are the only ones on this list that would make my top 10 (more accurately be in a tie for #1 but if I was being democratic obviously Elvis is far and away the #1 artist of all time). I can't disagree with CCR in my top 10 either (but not @ #2).

Alan Jackson, George Strait, & The Eagles all would be on a top 20 or 30 for me. Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, and Roy Orbison would probably make my top 50.

Serious omissions? Where's Patsy Cline? Loretta Lynn? George Jones? The Band? Sam Cooke? The Drifters? The Platters? The Shirelles? Connie Francis? Aretha Franklin? The Dixie Chicks? and numerous, numerous others?

I imagine Sinatra, Clapton, The Beatles, and The Stones would ultimately be on most "greatest lists" (though never on mine)

Dylan and Nelson are amazing writers, but they can't sing to save their lives which is why I exclude them. Everyone else on this list is extremely, extremely expendable and some are absolutely ridiculous especially taking into consideration the dozens of omissions.

This question is dildos, you're really just preaching to the choir, most people on R&P like all of this stuff.

Also, just because something was made 30, 40, 50 years ago doesn't make it good, listen to some new music for crying out loud.

Looking at your list, it's great that you don't have crappy artist like Miley Virus or Justin Beaver. You know a great artist when you hear them!

BQ: The Beatles, Elton John, Queen, The Beach Boys, Aerosmith, Michael Jackson, The Monkees, and Cher.

I don't really dislike any of these bands but your list definitely needs more soul/R&B/funk. I mean, you really like The Turtles more than say Ray Charles or Marvin Gaye?

BA: Cher. Nice call, she rules!
