Ended the political and moral domination of the whole of Europe by the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church.
Glorious Revolution in Britain.
Established England as a Constitutional Monarchy,which laid the basis for British expansion over the next 2 centuries into the largest empire the world has ever seen.
Led to the population of Europe almost doubling,an increase that provided Britain with the workforce that,in combination with other factors,enabled Britain to begin the Industrial revolution by the end of the century.
Unification of Germany.
This meant a powerful new European state that altered the balance of power.German ambition was to cause 2 world wars in the next century.
World War One.
This ended the global domination of the continent of Europe,which was crippled economically,psychologically,and morally by the conflict.It also saw the establishment of the world's first Communist state.WW1 changed everything,and was very much the beginning of the world we live in today.

We'll have to narrow this question down. I assume that you are looking for information oriented more toward western civilization. Of course, the significance of any event is open to interpretation--the answer will change according to whom you ask.
16th Century: Protestant Reformation
This event change the balance of power between church leaders and rulers of kingdoms.
17th Century: 30 Years' War (third bloodiest war in European history)
A religious war, later fought between major European powers which ravaged German kingdoms and left Central Europe in ruins.
18th Century: Formation of contemporary Republican states
The birth of modern democracy started in France and spread around the Western world.
19th Century: Napoleonic Wars
Napoleon stages his campaigns against Europe to coerce his reforms, political ideologies, and might upon all his neighbors.

War of course. There are negative and positive aspects of war that transform every society, so war is very important in our understanding of history. There is war in everyone of those centuries too. Hard to study history without understanding the wars surrounding the history you are studying.

one suggestion. Pose this question for each century as opposed to placing it all bunched up. No person will truly answer this question otherwise.
