David Copperfield is extremely good-hearted, thoughtful, and, by the end of the book, wise. He tends to develop strong attachments, and is usually (especially later in the book) a good judge of character--except in the case of Steerforth. He is very patient and persevering and not afraid of hard work, if he believes it right. He has a strong sense of right and wrong, and is quite humble and affectionate.
I have read the book many, many times.
