Does oil or solar energy cost more?

    Solar generated electricity costs between 3 times and 10 times more than oil-generated electricity, depending on the type of solar panels involved.

    You have to take into account the cost of the generating equipment. Yes, solar energy is more or less free once you have the panels installed, but those panels are extremely expensive, and the price is immediate, rather than spread over decades. Assuming you have absolutely perfect solar energy conditions (which don't exist anywhere in North America), you might break even on costs of solar vs oil after 20 years. But you probably won't.

    Once you get the proper setup (solar panels) the cost of solar energy is FREE. How can you beat that?
