Why is my work place testing me for TB?
I just started a new job working at a daycare and I have to take a $100 drug test plus a TB test. I thought TB was tuberculosis but why would I need that?

TB is Tuberculosis. They are 1 in the same.
And,you should be tested...your going to be working around young children, and possibly even newborn babies. And,TB is contagious. So,the Day care center is protecting their clients first. And,TB isn't that rare as 1 answerer posted, because if TB were that rare...it would be useless to even test you,or anyone for that matter.
Take care!

You're correct. TB is the abbreviation for tuberculosis. I would say that they want to ensure you don't have it, due to the fact you are working in a day care. It does seem odd though. TB is pretty much eradicated in this country, though some cases do occur, it is quite rare.
I'm just wondering. Do you have to pay for the test yourself?
