how do i stop getting instant messages from people i dont know? They just keep popping up everytime!?

Everytime i check my emails all of a sudden like 15 instant messages pop up...some of them sound like spammy kind of things...this never happened to me. thanks.

It sounds like spammers or some other bots.

I would run a scan for malware. Here are a few sites in case you don't already have one that remove malware/spyware.

Both downloads are free and both the downloads give a very good description of what they try to achieve.

I would also advise you to change your settings to stop these chat requests from coming through. You can do so from your email page as follows:

Go to "Options" >Click on "More Options">Click on "Spam".

Under "Blocked Chat ID's">choose one of the options given. Either "Block chat messages from anyone who is not in my Contacts" or "Block chat messages only from the people listed below:". If you use this option add the person in the box. Click on "Save Changes" at the top.

report them as spam, sometimes you'll get an option when you don't have them in your contact list. I was getting friend request from people I didn't know and I blocked them and put them as spam. That worked for me.

You're being hacked, most likely. Unplug your computer and go for a walk outside. After your computer cools down, it will be okay.
