Anyone know about holocausts?

What other nations, besides Germany, went through Holocausts? Explanations would be helpful. :)

"Holocaust" is an ancient Greek work meaning "burnt offering"

For example it features in some translations of the Old Testament, as late as 1958

Wikipedia will help you more than Yahoo can. The word holocaust is usually reserved for Nazi Germany, but you will find that many countries have been guilty of mass genocide and ethnic cleansing, which are the terms you should look up. Other countries have killed hundreds of thousands, but the Nazis were organized and developed a systematic "final solution".

Only the German genocide during WWII is called "The Holocaust"; it was unique because it was conducted by an advanced country in a fully-industrialized manner.

    Other genocides include:

    1) Rwanda, 1994

    2) Actions by the Serbs under Milosevic in the 1990s

    3) Turks killing Armenians around 1920

    4) the Killing Fields in Cambodia by Pol Pot

    5) numerous operations by Genghis Khan, Timur, and other Mongols

    6) A lot of people wound up in Stalin's gulags
