Your problem is probably because you are eating too many calories. Don't forget that fruits, veggies, and whole grains have calories too! You may be eating right but you could be eating too much! Also NEVER eat within 2 hours of going to bed; your metabolism will not have a chance to burn off any last-minute foods you gobble down before getting some shut-eye.
Here's a list of foods that I ate/drank from that helped me loose weight: Tilapia, salmon, halibut, chicken breast, low fat turkey breast, Low cal acai drinks, spinach, bok choy, cabbage, green tea, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, brown rice, whole grain sugar free bread (50-70 calories a slice), skim/fat free milk, cayenne pepper, egg whites, bananas, broccoli, black coffee (no cream), fiber one cereal(60 calories 1/2 cup), Low carb yogurt (60-80 calories), Grapefruit, celery, Light Grapefruit Juice, Oatmeal, apples, and of course, WATER!
Foods to avoid: RED MEAT(pork & beef), chicken dark meat, turkey dark meat, duck, lamb, fried foods, fast food, salt, white rice, potatoes, candy and chocolate, egg yolks, white bread, white rice, noodles, protein bars/shakes, any baked/fried food that has been breaded, milk that is 1% or higher in milk fat (always drink skim/fat free), and other dairy products(this includes: ice cream, cheese, sauces, pudding, frozen yogurt(ppl advertise this as healthier but its still loaded in calories!)).
Foods that boost your metabolism: Green tea, broccoli, grapefruit, water, hot peppers, oatmeal, apples, pears, low-fat yogurt, lean turkey.
Exercise Suggestions: make sure you get cardio 45 min+ a day. This means your heart rate must be over 150(if you have heart problems in your family/ or any other disability that would be worsened with a high heart rate then ask your doctor before doing this type of exercise). Also make sure you are weightlifting at least 3 times a week. Many girls stray from this but as long as you keep in the lower weight range you'll be fine. Weight lifting promotes a LONG TERM metabolism. The more muscle you have on your body (especially your core/abs) the more calories and fat you will burn long term.
Eating habits: Try not to eat more than 1200 calories a day (this includes healthy calories) if you are going to be inactive. With activity this amount can be increased to about 1500. Many people stress 6 small meals a day which is best but if you can't that's fine too. I lost 28 pounds while only eating 3 meals in a matter of months. This was with ALOT of exercise though and a very strict diet.
Side tips: Try diluting 1-2 tbsp of unfiltered apple cider vinegar a day into your drinks. Researchers have shown this to suppress appetite and help with weight loss. Drink water before each meal! This will help you eat less and wash toxins out of your body. Low sodium soup with lots of cabbage will help fill you up faster and aid in weight loss. Make sure to drink unsweetened green tea(looseleaf preferred) every day, it may not seem to be doing much but trust me; it works.
Try taking up running. This is one of the best things you could ever do for your body. You should challenge yourself to run a 5K(3.1miles) without stopping. If you can do this in 30 min or under you are starting to get in better shape. Running is also the best exercise for boosting your metabolism and helping you loose weight all over your body.
Make sure that you get a plan like this approved by your doctor before trying it! Always remember that any weight loss is going to take months. Evaluate your habits everyday and take this diet one step/day at a time. It helped me loose about 30 lbs in about 5 months and I have a TERRIBLE metabolism thanks to bad genes. GOOD LUCK!
