Hydrogen is the most simple kind of atom. It has 1 proton and 1 electron. Ordinary Hydrogen has no neutrons. Hydrogen has a single valence electron and ordinarily forms covalent bonds with other atoms. The mass number of Hydrogen is 1.00. Hydrogen forms hydrogen ions with a single positive charge. Acids are defined as substances which produce Hydrogen ions.
