UNC Chapel Hill removed the office of "President" from the University's administrative organization back in 1934. Now, the fund raising and organizational leader of the University is it's Chancellor. The current chancellor is Dr. Holden Thorp, an scientist and chemistry professor who went UNC, CalTech, and Yale. Dr. Thorp taught at NC State and UNC and served as a Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and UNC before accepting the post of chancellor.
If you are at all confused by this title change, keep in mind that he is the leader of the University, and Presidents from universities across the country consider him to occupy their analogous role.Source(s): http://www.unc.edu/chan/
