Both dev companies have had way too many swings at this dead horse of a franchise. It stopped evolving or becoming innovative since CoD4. Every game since has been the SAME thing.
When it comes to choosing between which company creates the best mediocre game in this mediocre franchise, I'll say Treyarch. They strike me as a more capable developer company who are better suited for supporting their game compared to IW. I see more attention to detail in Treyarch's games, and they tend to fix problems pretty quickly that are based directly off community concerns... Well, they have a much better track record of doing this than IW does.
Every single Call of Duty game since 4 by IW has been a broken unbalanced mess, which unfortunately set the standard for the rest of the series. When it comes to MW2, I don't know how a dev company managed to create a "competitive" online shooter where the typical rules of skill and experience don't apply. Simply put, the game panders to retards and bad players by rewarding bad playstyles. Playing MW2 online is as easy as taking a piss. I've never played a game as mindless as MW2, I think I need to think harder to use a microwave than to play MW2. The first few times I've ever played the game in my life, I hit top 3 on every match. (Yes I know that's not indicative of the skill of the community, but the problem here is that there was no learning curve or strategies for me to uncover, unlike every other shooter I've ever played.) Now mind you, my standards for online shooters is high, and I don't consider MW2 to be even on the same dimension as my standards. It's so unbearable that I literally get embarrassed for myself every time I play it.
Not that Treyarch is a much more amazing developer. I simply find their CoD games to have more effort put into them, and to be SLIGHTLY more tolerable. But I actually find myself having a bit of fun when I play Black Ops or WaW. Not near as much as other games, but there is some fun for me to be had. Zombies is alright, in terms of horde modes across videogames, it's decent but not the best. I consider Halo Reach's Firefight and Uncharted 2's Coop arena modes to be much more superior.
Mediocre franchise is mediocre.

Treyarch wins, no doubt about it. I loved Call of Duty 4, and I still do, but the only thing keeping me into the Call of Duty series is Nazi Zombies and the Campaign. MW2 had a fairly decent campaign, but Black Ops topped it. Black Ops has Nazi Zombies, whereas Modern Warfare 2 has crappy Spec. Ops. If Black Ops didn't have Nazi Zombies, I wouldn't even consider it. W.A.W, COD4, and BO are the only ones that I'd want to have.
Infinity Ward may have started off the franchise, but Treyarch has made it worth playing IMO. Infinity Ward did a phenomenal job with COD4 and Call of Duty 1 and 2, but MW2 isn't worth the money. -
MW2!!!!!!! I.W. all the way!
I really glad to find someone who shares the exact same views as me. I was introduced to mw2 in August, about 9 months after it came out. I had been out of video games for awhile (i bought the 360 in july and played xbox for the first time since 2004 with Crash Bandicoot!) and when I started the mw2 multiplayer, I was amazed not only by the graphics but by how much the game was drawing me in. If my parents hadn't cancelled my account I would still be leveling up in mw2, i put black ops back on the shelves a month or 2 after first getting it. it really seemed like Treyarch just builds off of what IW did well the last game, and I can't stand zombies. Boring as hell if you ask me. Co-op Spec Ops is the way to go.
And I didn't think I was a shallow enough person to like/dislike a game based on graphics, but mw2 is better than BO in so many other ways. BO is an adequate game, I like the addition of Wager Matches by Treyarch though. My friends all seem to hate them but I think they are an interesting and fun different experience than normal COD multiplayer.
The last thing I'm gonna say is that gaming should be about fun, not about completing a game or getting 100% or doing every task or receiving every award. mw2 was fun cuz when you got bored with the normal guns that you are at your best with, you can just clear a class and put on whatever crazy stuff you want. You dont have to use money thats limited, and you can just choose from all the guns that you've unlocked. And as for all the crazy sh*t that happens in mw2, thats what makes a game fun; an escape from the realism of life. I have self control, so when I get killed I don't blame it on the game and yell GAAAH NOOBTUBERS or SNIPING CAMPER B*TCH or something like that. I believe that for us smarter and wiser folk, mw2 will always be the better game. I think it was a similar situation with mw1 and cod 5 WaW.
Again I'm really glad I found someone who had the same experience with both games as I did. -
I liked the graphics better in Modern Warfare 2 and I loved the maps alot more. They were more open and sniper friendly. The Black Ops maps are too closely confined.
I like Black Ops because there are cooler guns and they added the Nazi Zombies back! It's not a Call of Duty game without the Zombies anymore... -
Well my opinion is confusing on these 2 games...
When i first got MW2 i was straight addicted. The multiplayer was near flawless. I loved every single aspect of it and I would play it 24 hours non stop.
When I first got black ops it was alright and i slowly began to like it. Now I play it on a daily basis and enjoy it.
At this momemt I absolutely DESPISE MW2. I HATE playing it now. I also like playing black ops tho. Although I like black ops more, MW2 is definetly the better game. -
BO definately did better than MW2 but souly based on the fact that there was so much hype about it in the media and people on Youtube freaking out about it. MW2 was much mkore superior to BO not only for the looks but also the online play sucked. When you turn around corners, you don't really fully turn around them (In other words, the animation lags). Also, Treyarch did a horrible job with weapons. Not only are the reticles totally innacurate but there are weapons in there that were not even in the Cold War era. MW2 was much more accurate with their storylines and guns. I prefered the storyline of BO over MW2 though. Even though it was innacurate, it was much more suspensful and active. Overall, I prefered MW2. I am now looking forward to MW3 in November, 2011.

Modern warfare 2- better graphics, guns, more fun, better multiplayer
Black ops- Zombies.
You be the judge -
black ops is better atm in my opinion for two reasons only
zombies, and no quick scoping
unless they fix quick scoping in MW2 then in my mind black ops wins however i like everything else about MW2 better than black ops -
Mw2 is the BOSS

They both blow ***
Modern Warfare 2 vs Black Ops?
Treyach vs Infinity Ward
My opinion is I was introduced to Modern Warfare 2 and thought the game was perfect. As soon as I bought Black Ops I was so upset with the way it looks and gameplay. Hence the name "Modern" I prefer the modern weapons on MW2 Then Black Ops.. I know the sales of Black Ops were thru the roof, but I believe that was because how well MW2 did..What are your thoughts..
