Way to set mac to automatically turn off after a certain amount of time?
I would like to listen to music on my computer before falling asleep and have my laptop shut off automatically after an hour. Is that possible?

I'm sure this isn't the most optimal way to do it — there are probably apps out there that do such a thing, I just haven't had cause to look for them — but there's a terminal command you can use.
"sudo shutdown -h +60" (without the quotation marks)
The +60 means you're telling the computer to shut down 60 minutes from now; that can be changed as desired. It'll ask you to enter your password, and once you do, it'll display a message saying that the computer will shut down at (insert time here). You can safely close Terminal after that if you want, and the computer will still shut down according to schedule. Next time you open Terminal, you can simply press the up arrow key to get at the last command you entered, which is handy if you'll be using the above command often.
Setting a specific shutdown time in the "Energy Saver" pane of System Preferences would be easier, but it also lacks flexibility. The "shutdown" terminal command starts counting from whenever you enter it, letting you go to sleep when you want to.
EDIT: I took a quick look around, and there's a Dashboard widget that accomplishes the same thing, called, simply, "Off". http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/of...

Tried that and it really doesn't work too well, sometimes when your ready to drift off, the music changes to something loud or disturbing and it wakes you back up.
Or the reverse happens, your comfortable listening to the music and falling asleep, then it just stops and the silence wakes you up.
Just hit the power button when your ready, 60 seconds later it goes off.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com
It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
