    Australia is a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.N4 Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the northeast and New Zealand to the southeast.

    Yes, Australia is both a Country and a Continent!!!

    It is definitely a country. Everyone knows that. Some people would argue that the continent is Oceana and includes many of the islands and smaller countries around Australia, however I believe Australia is the proper name for the continent as well as the country.

    Yes to country - a self-governing political unit recognized by the international community
