Blender is a simple series universal motor that can be run on either AC or DC power source. It has a pair of carbon made brushes. It also has different turns of field windings connect to the selector where select the different speeds. Higher impedance field winding create slower speed. You may open it , study it, very simple, just a few screws. It is not an expensive piece of appliance even you break it by accident.

Blender is a very generic term used for mixing food / chemical / concrete etc....

You may have to specify the type as well.

Food blenders normally use DC motors.
