How to free up space in the local disk (C:) drive?
My local disc (C:) drive normally has 33 gb of space, but right now it has only 1 gig of free space left. Also I am getting constant interference with my internet connection, difficulty connecting. I believe it may have something to do with the lack of space. What's the fastest easiest way to solve this problem? What's the fastest easiest free of charge way to free up my space? If there are certain steps that should be taken please number them in sequential order. My OS is Windows XP. My PC which is by now approximately 6 years old is a T43 IBM ThinkPad laptop centrino.

whenever there is'nt much space left on my pc , wich doesnt happens a lot but well, i use this http://download.cnet.com/WinDirStat/3000-2248_4-10...
it shows in cubes what are the biggest files, so you can see directly the big ones and see if you need them... now i must say, if you're planing on keeping this lapotp you could always buy a new hard disk, they're very cheap. and also notice, if you're hard drive is more then 50%full, you're pc or lapotp wil slow down. but wel, try windirstat, and that will free up some space , and you could also do the windows things, like clean up c/ but i don't now where that is anymore, xp was a long time ago for me . . .

Start > control panel > add and remove programs > select which you would like to delete, this reduces your MB's and GB's etc. You can easily determine your unused programs by looking at the "used" section next to the program on the list, judge it by rarely, occasionally, frequently or by the date etc. It could also be pictures and videos, these kill your C:drive with all the space taken... This is based on a pc, you may need to search about.com if you have a Mac system

Clean out caches with CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com
Glary Utilities: http://www.glaryutilities.com/
Delete the c**pware that comes from the computer manufacturer that you never use. A small program, PCDecrapifier http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/ can help in removing the excess programs that manufacturers load your hard drive up with.
Delete old programs that you never use.
Your filling-up hard drive may be the result of log files or other files that are continuing to accumulate data. Check for large files on the machine and research if they can be deleted and/or the logghing operation terminated.
TreeSize Free is a program that will list files by size
If your hard drive is nearly full, either delete a bunch of stuff and defragment, or consider upgrading to a new larger, faster hard drive. Hard drives slow down dramatically as they fill up,
