Somebody help me understand what happened in the Supreme Court Case on Northern Securities Company vs. The United States?
Okay, sorry that was so long :/
Basically I need to write a paragraph on several different Supreme Court Cases. I haven't had much trouble with any of them until this one. I can't find much information on it.
So if you can help me understand what it was about and how it was resolved that would be awesome :)
And plain english is always a bonus
If I could have chosen what I was writing about, I sure as HECK would not have chosen this. I don't have a choice on what I'm doing this on, but thanks for your non-helpful input
Sorry just overly frustrated at the moment
What I eventually got:
The case started as a contest for power and control between railroad track lines and an intermediate track. They were charged for violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act to which they responded that the act did not cover transfer of property rights. The Supreme Court agreed with the Government’s intention that the holding company had been used as an illegal device to slow down interstate trade. This decision gave way to begin the Government’s Trust-Busting efforts.

why don't you pick something with unprecedented historical implications such as "Citizen's United" where the Supreme Court was bribed to allow corporations to buy elections?
edit: your note does not make it clear that you had no choice so I was suggesting one...there's no need to be a jerk about it, I was trying to be helpful.
