What are some great alternative/alternative rock bands?
I haven't really listened to the most popular bands in the alternative section at the moment, such as Mumford & Sons, because of laziness :P. (1) Are these new, popular alternative bands worth listening?
(2) I'm interested in discovering bands that have a similar style/sound to The Beatles, Modest Mouse, The Shins, No Doubt, Garbage, CAKE, Tegan and Sarah, and/or The Killers. (3) Also, any song or album suggestions by these bands would be great. I have all of the No Doubt songs, almost all of the Beatles songs, 3 CAKE albums, and the Good News for People Who Love Bad News album. I have 4 or less songs of the other bands I listed. (ex: Walking With a Ghost + Living Room by Tegan and Sarah)
I'm not interested in punk bands like All Time Low or Forever the Sickest Kids. My tastes have grown away from that genre over the past few months.
(4) In addition, what are the best MGMT songs? I only know Electric Feel.
Thank you!
I also meant to add that I like the Foo Fighters, but I only know Everlong, The Pretender, and My Hero.
Thanks!

1) Mumford and Sons are wonderful, in my opinion. They kinda bluesy sometimes, so as long as you like that garage-blues-soul feel, you'll like them. I think they're great!
2 and 3) I have a couple suggestions for you
-OASIS (sound very similar to the Beatles, but more modern)
-songs- "Wonderwall", "Supersonic", "D'you Know What I Mean?", "Lyla."
-THE PRETTY RECKLESS
-entire "Light Me Up" album
-THE RACONTEURS
-entire "Consolers of the Lonely" album; two songs called "Steady, As She Goes" and "Level"
-ARCADE FIRE
-entire "The Suburbs" album; songs called "Black Mirror", "Wake Up", "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)", and "Keep the Car Running".
-BRANDON FLOWERS (Lead singer of the Killers; not sure if you have listened to his solo stuff. It's quite good.)
-songs- "Crossfire", "Only the Young".
-BROKEN BELLS
-songs- "The Ghost Inside" and "October"
-REGINA SPEKTOR
-songs- "Eet", "Laughing With", "Aprés Moi", "Fidelity", and "Wallet".
-FLORENCE + THE MACHINE
- entire "Lungs" album
4) They have a song called Indie Rokkers from and older EP that's FANTASTIC. It's my favorite MGMT song.

You might like Beach House. They're fairly new, they just dropped an album last year called Teen Dream, and it's amazing. Here's their song Zebra. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-wfb25WmV4
I would also recommend checking out this indie band called Low. Pretty awesome stuff they put out. Here's their song California. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ox-C4nb6-8
BA: As for the best MGMT songs, anything (literally anything) off of their album Congratulations.
