She took the throne of England, which most people considered to rightfully belong to Mary,. the sister of King Edward VI, who had just died. Edward had made Jane his heir, but it was considered that he did not have the legal right to do that. Jane's ambitious parents and father-in-law were eager for her to become Queen, they wanted power for themselves. jane was more or less pushed into it.

In fact, Mary did not have Jane executed right away, she wanted to spare her,a nd it was only after another rebellion was mounted in Jane's name that she reluctantly ordered Jane's execution.

Queen Jane was a pawn. She was used by her family to take the crown from King Henry's daughter Mary. Since Mary was the next in line for the throne (after her brother died w/out an heir), Jane and her family were guilty of treason.

According to the Third Successions Act, regardless of Edward's deathbed decisions, Mary was next in line for the throne. With no other law in effect, Mary was the Queen upon Edward's death. Contrary to popular belief now, Mary was popularly supported by the people and they never rose up to support Lady Jane's claim to the throne.

She did nothing wrong, she just happened to be in the way of Queen Mary
