4: Justin Beiber is just starting out. He could become great, but for now he's a flash in the pan.

3: Elvis was a great singer, but he wasn't a great actor and couldn't handle his professional life. He spiraled down, became a parody of himself, and died of drugs before he reached 50.

2: Frank Sinatra was a great singer and a top actor ("The man with the Golden Arm", "The Manchurian Candidate", and his Oscar-winning performance in "From Here to Eternity"). He was his own producer, recreating his professional image several times and still making hit records when he was a grandfather.

1: John Lennon. As a singer/performer he was "merely" very good, but was a great songwriter with hundreds of hit songs to his name. He was part of a team that changed the very way recorded music was made. Not only did he control his professional life, but was politically active and worked to improve the lives of others.
