The committee has also attributed the disappearance of butterflies, bees, insects and sparrows vanishing from big cities to mobile phone-related radiation.

The eight-member committee, which included representatives from the health ministry, department of biotechnology and member secretary, DoT, has recommended that mobile phones not adhering to standard levels of specific absorption rate (SAR) - a measure of the amount of radio frequency energy absorbed by the body while using a phone -- should be barred.

It has said mobile towers should not be installed near high density residential areas, schools, playgrounds and hospitals...

People are so enamoured of the new technologies taking friends / home nearer by range of Spectrum generations! But it seems they had missed / overlooked the risk of increasing radiation in the crowded flats and towns, from computers, TVs, Cell towers, Cell phones and all.

Already due to our faulty life styles and eating pattern, cases of cancer etc are on the rise. Now this menace of radiation is likely to hike the health risks.

It would be difficult for us to stop using the Devices but we may adopt some safety measures like using ''hands free'' instead of taking the cell to the ears! Stop children and pregnant women from frequent and prolonged use of the gadgets etc.

But govt should also sincerely examine the installation of signal towers by the service providers in ''crowded'' areas, as recommended by experts. Whether it is possible to achieve it without complaint of low signals / without the interference from politicians to implement etc, is also questionable.

Ok what are your thoughts on this important health issue?
