His jersey says GUTTY, but for some reason people (including myself) insist on spelling it G-u-t-i. The people who write those articles online dont give a damn. I just write it like that because it saves time.

The correct spelling if you want that pronounciation in english is "Vanya" There is no correct spelling as such in english, because it is a russian name written in cyrillic and therefore you have to go with what roman letters make the name sound like you want it. That wikipedia article says it all pretty much.
