Jane doe in french???
Not looking for a literal translation since it's a name. I'm talking about the name used for unidentified persons. What do they call a female u.i person in france? :)

Jane Doe = Madame Unetelle (Mme Unetelle)
John Doe = Monsieur Untel (M. Untel) ... The slang term in Quebec would be "Joe Blow".
Mme X and M. X will be used if the name is unpublished (but known), usually as a matter of confidentiality.

there is not any a french call like that for a woman. For a guy that is Jean Dupond (Dupont) for a woman it would properly be possible to opt for on Anne, Marie, Jeanne for the first call and Bertrand, Dupond, Dupont, Machin, Truc for the merely proper call yet we do no longer have a Jane Doe only a John Doe.

Madame X or Madame Dupond (it's a very common surname in France, often used to refer to someone whose name is unknown)
John Doe : Monsieur X or Monsieur DupondSource(s): http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Doe
