Best Answer: The quote seems to speak for itself. He seems to explain it very well. I think the United States political machine demonstrates this perfectly. The Democrats take a position that they call left and the Republicans take a position that they call right. The media reinforce the position that those are the limits of the scope on what type of stances can be considered reasonable. Everything that falls outside of these two limits is labeled very quickly as radical, extreme, insane, etc. So the parties that control these two limits control the direction of the country and the perception of what is reasonable.
Noam Chomsky presents interesting historical events but out of that he is extreme leftist who wants anarchy. He is also victim of his own accusations since he too have an agenda that is built into everything coming out of his mouth when hes not talking about historical events.
Was this from his 2002 BC speech? It means that the news SHOULD have a liberal bias if done properly, thereby allowing stifling arguments about a right wing news source as well as allowing both the Left & Right to maintain the belief that the Liberal media is as far as one can go & thus not challenge the system outside the preset media parameters.
He's right. If you control the parameters of people's thought, you control the guiderails of all their possible opinions. That's why learning how to question authority and develop critical thinking skills are so important.
After discussing politics with people for many years, I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people are plagued with this problem.
The most important thing is that you have to think though the complex issues for yourself.
