An average CFL uses about 7 watts. Check the package, or look at the labelling on the bulb itself for the exact number.

To convert that to kilowatts, divide by 1000. So, the average CFL uses about 0.007 kilowatts.

Multiply that by the number of hours it runs, and you get the kilowatt-hours of electricity that it uses.

So, 0.007 kilowatts for one hour is 0.007 kilowatt-hours. 0.007 kilowatts for 24 hours is 0.168 kilowatt-hours.

In my city, I pay about 14 cents per kilowatt hour.

Cfl comes in diffrent ratings 7, 14, 20W etc. Take this value divide it by 1000 to get kilowatt.

Now if you want energy consumed for one hour multiply it by one.

Again if U want bill for that multiply it by Rs/unit in your area.
