Does any American brother or sister know if Audie Murphy, W.W.II is still the most decorated?

I went to Arlington National Cemetery several times and visited the HERO-Audie Murphy`s grave. Seeing i never served my country in the military; i stood at attention for two minutes! Is Audie Murphy still the most decorated military person in the U.S.A.?

Audie is NOT the most highly decorated. he was the most decorated ENLISTED man of WW2...but not of the whole war and not of all time. It was a "tag line" for publicity. He was photogenic and was good for the war effort.

Absolutely for a non officer. That is the highest award that someone in the Army can get. My son in law received the Audie Murphy award and it is really a big deal. Glad you went.

People that is what I said. He was not an officer.

I had thought he was until I tried using Google to answer your question. Wikipedia lists Murphy as the most decorated hero of WW2, however, at least one source claims there are more than one way to measure. See my source below.

I have no idea if he nonetheless is or no longer, however there was once a time after we had Hollywood actors who had been proud to battle for his or her nation like Mr. Murphy. Today's Hollywood is filled with communist America hating degenerates.
