How can i sterilize a cotton?
- 9 years agoFavorite Answer
The easiest way to sterilize most things is with heat. So cotton could be sterilized by boiling it, steaming it (e.g. In an autoclave) or by putting it in an oven. Cotton can handle temperatures up to about 350 degrees F without charring, but anything above 200 degrees F or so will sterilize it.

You could try washing it in a vinegar & water solution. Vinegar is a good cleaner for almost everything. Try a small piece to be sure it won't hurt your cotton. It won't be 100% sterile though.
If you are talking about cotton balls rather than a piece of fabric, then you can't sterilize it.

Throw it away hon! LOL. It's really unnecessary to sterilize everything. It's good for your baby to be exposed to germs and bacteria, it ups their immune system so that they can ward off the flu and cold viruses, etc. Hot, soapy water is a perfect way to clean almost everything. You can buy an antibacterial soap and run really hot water in to the sink and just let bottles, toys, etc soak.
