If you enlist, you actually reduce your chances of going to West Point. Most appointees to the Military Academy are appointed directly from high school. If you are appointed as a Cadet, the West Point football team welcomes walk-ons, but they play NCAA Division 1 football and most players are recruited so you would have to be pretty amazing to have a shot at playing football. If you are small, 172 pounds or less, you can play Sprint Football at West Point.

most west point graduates dont enlist, they go str8 to west point. ALSO you will have every chance you want to play football, every service academy requires you to play a sport. whether you make the team or not is up to you.

You can try out for football, but its at Division 1A college football level (Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, USC, etc). Most of these athletes were recruited out of high school.
