My husband has been prescribed Metoprolol to reduce his heartrate, which was running over 100 bpm.?

He is taking 75 mg in the am and again at night. His heartrate is in the low to mid 40s, he is weak, lethargic, and can't sleep well. He is also taking Diltiaz ER(CD)180, Pacerone 200mg once a day, and Pradaxa 150 mg twice a day. Question: would it be helpful or catastrophic for him to reduce the Metoprolol dosage to 50 mg AM and 50 MG PM?
