I did yearn to wear high heels ! My two sisters were a lot older than me, and through the 50's and 60's I saw them wearing these really high stiletto heels, how glamorous ! How feminine ! They trotted along on them, even danced in them, and I tried the shoes on and practiced how I'd wear them.
Then whooomph ! In the 60's,out went stilettos, in came flatties, and as a teenager I never did get to wear those wonderful high heels, which did a disappearing trick at that time and seemed doomed never to reappear on the scene. The nearest I remember coming, is when I wore the little "kitten heeled shoes" which I think were around in the 70's.
Fast forward to the 90's and whoo ! The high / higher / highest heels came back into the fashion scene, I was amazed, but thought I'd never wear them.
Then came 2007 and my daughter was getting married. I went with her to buy her high heeled wedding shoes, and got talked into buying some for myself. At the age of 58, I bought a gorgeous pair of glittering silver leather high-heeled sandals with little twinkling jewels on the straps....I was actually comfortable on the wedding day, and managed to walk steadily, on my own, across about 50 yards of grass from my car to the wedding garden. And I wore them all day with no problems. I felt so glamorous ! So feminine ! Just like I knew I'd feel, 40 years ago.
Goes to show, its never too late for anything !
