With regards to Julian Assange, why is it that so may think the U.S. cannot go after a spy if they are from...?
...another country.
Dang! Its like those spies have just foiled us by using foreigners to do the espionage.
For those that don't think possession of secret material is not espionage, just read the law.

Dunno; most countries understand the seriousness of such activity and have agreed in extradition treaties to do so. It is why he was arrested in GB; they have an agreement with Sweden not to harbor people wanted for a serious crime. He will have a hard time hiding when the indictment is issued by the USA for violations of the Espionage Act.

Julian Assange is not a spy as he has never stolen the documents that have been exposed by his site. He has done what any other newspaper would do given the chance. These so called secrets were taken , I believe, by some junior US soldier.
The governments concerned have only themselves to blame for making these top secret files unguarded . How many times have we read about officials leaving their laptops in taxis just asking to be nicked.

For the same reason that so many think that secrets are sent by telegram.
Just another thing to keep the public entertained and make newspapers rich.
If he was anything of a real danger he would have been targeted years ago.
