is Acute myeloid leukemia a retrovirus? thankkk you please answerrr?
It says online that "Acute myeloid leukemia is associated with retroviral gene transfer to hematopoietic progenitor cells in a rhesus macaque" Does this mean that it is caused by a mistake in RNA transcription?

No. AML is a type of cancer, not a type of virus.
The National Cancer Institute is a great patient-friendly resource. See below.
Edit: The error wouldn't result from RNA transcription. In the study you reference, insertion into an antiapoptotic gene is what was possibly responsible for disrupting the usual regulation of the cell cycle, resulting in malignancy.Source(s): pharmacist, oncology unit http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/alphalist...
