Why is Skull Island filled with prehistoric life?

In all the King Kong movies, why is Skull Island have prehistoric animals? Why did it avoid whatever wiped out the dinosaurs?

    It is a forgotten island by modern societies. Also it is rumored to be haunted so obviously people don't go looking for it. It didn't suffer the fate of other dinosaurs because of its isolation

  • You have to remember that the story originates in the 1930s when less was understood about dinosaurs and why they became extinct, and that there were popular novels about explorers going to areas where dinosaurs still lived, so it would be natural to include them in a movie.

    Since the remakes had to include elements of the original the dinosaurs remain in them.
