What made Hitler "stand out" as the dictator of the 20th century as compared to the numerous other dictators around the globe beside of his "cruelty nature", his record of murdering over 6 million Jewish people?

He stood out because he fought against the United States and England. If a dictator picks on his own people, or only messes with "third world" countries, then nobody really notices or cares. But Hitler attacked England, and was planning to attack the United States. Most history books, newspapers, movies, etc. are produced by Americans or English people. So of course, a war against the USA and/or England will get tons of attention. It's not fair, but that's the way it is.

The way he transformed a destroyed Germany into one of the most powerful forces ever. Most people would've thought after World War I that Germany was finished for good but to think it could take on the empires of Britain and France and the rising power of the US, people would've laughed at the idea of it. Not to mention the fact that Hitler took on half the world single handedly whereas the Allies had to gang up to beat him.

    Bodycount:

    - The war caused by him caused 60 million casualties

    - Within that war he is responsible for the absolute low in human cruelty: the industrialization of gassing and burning people in ovens (6 million jews and 5 million gays, gypsies, political opponents or other "subhumans"

Ad to that a very operatic, almost comical figure (that it was a small, skinny, dark man who proclaimed the superiority of the tall, blonde aryan is one of the big ironies of history) and the number of countries that suffered, and you have your answer.

Body count. The war caused a lot more deaths than the exaggerated 6 million. Stalin may have a higher body count in his own country but Hitlers body count crosses too many borders.

Hitler was evil because he targeted a Religion. Hitlers actions were despicable. Napoleon was not as bad as Hitler.
