10-x=9x

    10 - x = 9x

    (add x to both sides, which will cancel out the one of the left since it is the opposite of subtraction)

    10 = 10x

    (divide by 10 to both sides since that is the opposite of multiplications, and 10 is being multiplied by x)

    1 = x

    10-x=9x

    10=9x+x

    10=x(9+1)

    10=10x

    x=1

    add the x so...

    10=10x

    divide by 10 to get x alone

    so...

    1=x

    or

    x=1

    10-x=9x

    +x +x

    10=10x

    10/10=10x/10

    x=1

    Move x over, change side change sign

    10 =10x

    x=1
