When do I have to pay sales tax?

I live in Kansas. I'm selling handmade items over the internet (craigslist, etsy, facebook). I've only made $20 so far and the buyer was out of state. Do I need to charge sales tax?

You would need to charge sales tax on sales to customers within Kansas based on the tax rate of where the item was shipped.

Out of state sales are not subject to tax.

Depends on state law, but usually you don't have to charge sales tax to people who don't actually come into the state to purchase something.
