Interesting that one respondent would label you "troll" despite your references, and yet not provide any specifics for a Reagan defense. Name-calling is often resorted to by those who have no facts to dispute what is being said.
This being said, I'm wondering how anyone can claim President Obama to be a negative when our current economic concerns and deregulated crappola is of historical and global significance that is unprecedented! There are no comparisons possible other than the actions taken to get this nation fully recovered from the Great Depression---and many of President Obama's would-be denigrators were either infants or unborn during this 1929-1938 period of history.
Reagan, who had ALZHEIMERS while President, was HANDLED by some of the same orchestrators of our nation's fiscal woes under GW and under Bush/Quayle: Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowicz, and the Carlyle Group, with lots of input from The Family, a DC-based CULT that controls pretty much every move the GOP makes (Sharlet, 2008, 2010), and Heritage Foundation (same cult, different name). We lost our manufacturing base then, just as we did under GOP totalitarianism from 2001 through to 2007, and outsourcing became the NORM as more and more American workers lost their livelihood. President Obama has been working with the Democrats to END this policy for good (see recovery.gov for more details on the 40 states with new alternative-energy plants up and running thanks in part to the Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009).
We've had an 8% PAYDOWN of our Republican-caused DEFICIT (Reuters, Washington Post June articles; MSNBC) by President Obama and the Democrats as well. The consumer protecting legislations that have been passed under this president are numerous---not something for which ANY Republican president was known (and especially not PATCO-firing Reagan). I'd say that President Obama is miles ahead of anything Reagan did, and he is not being "handled" by the evil-minded Cheney et al. We are in good hands, in my educated opinion (see polifact.com's Obameter, whitehouse.gov, cnn.com/healthcare, "Frontline: Inside The Meltdown" of PBS; and JibJab---the latter two just to remind folks of what was in place before President Obama was even sworn into office January 20th, 2009).
