How old are you?
I'm 21, currently a 4th year in college. When I was in high school, the majority of girls wore at least light make up. In college, I don't think I've known a female that does not wear make up. The only time I really see girls that aren't wearing make up at all is during an early morning class or something when they're running late or like just rolled out of bed (which isn't really the norm at my school). Generally speaking, when I see a girl who isn't wearing any make up, she looks unkempt and even unprofessional. It's the equivalent of not brushing your hair or something. At my age, I feel like it would actually be totally inappropriate to show up to a meeting, a job interview, or a class presentation completely bare-faced.
With that said, I know A LOT of girls that wear really light make up--and they pull it off really well. I know a few that have great skin and don't wear foundation. I know girls that just wear light blush, some mascara, and a light gloss. Wearing light make up sends the message that they are naturally beautiful...but also that they at least stopped by a mirror before they left the house.
But I'm not trying to say that teens should ever feel like they have to wear make up. Teens that look good without make up and don't feel like bothering with it should embrace their natural beauty! I wish I could get away with it. I hate doing my make up haha. But if you enjoy wearing make up, wear it proud! Just be sure to stick to your current philosophy that natural is better, keep making sure that you're not overdoing it, and always make sure your look is an appropriate "day time" look. In retrospect, there were times that I had a little too much fun with my make up in high school and I wish I'd listened to my mom when she told me it was too much haha
